Made with care and attention to detail, all Outer Wings leather patches are handmade with our own unique designs inspired by the outdoors. All of our work is laser engraved on quality, full-grain leather and machine-sewn by hand, securely and professionally.

Outer Wings was born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where we hike the tall peaks, paddle the rivers, and camp under the stars. Mother Nature provides the most beautiful playground, and we want to keep it that way!

Our patches are made with full-grain, sustainably sourced leather that have been dyed with all-natural resources from plants and other organic materials. Full-grain leather has not been altered or processed beyond the removal of hair and retains all of the hide’s original texture and markings, making each patch both unique and environmentally friendly.

Founder Zac Bethel loves his day job as a custom 3D sign maker, but he found himself craving another creative outlet. Hand-making custom hats with an eye for quality allows him to combine artistic design with the joy of working with his hands – and that drives our passion at Outer Wings!

When he’s not working, Zac enjoys snowboarding and mountain biking in beautiful Summit County, spending time on the water, and exploring the western U.S. with his girlfriend in their converted campervan (another fun DIY design project!).
